Nury Duerst

President/Events

My name is Nury Duerst and I presently serve as President of the Plantation Ladies 9 Hole Golf League. I first became involved with the league six years ago after moving to the community with my husband. My golf was far from impressive but I enjoyed the ladies, meeting neighbors and the socialization. I soon began volunteering to run events within LG9. This exposed me to the back room of planning, Board interactions and the club staff. The experience has been extremely rewarding. By way of introduction, I was born in Cuba and immigrated when I was 4. I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin (BA-Education, MA-Curriculum and Instruction). I taught Spanish to grades 6-12 before retiring. I love to travel, cook, craft, beach time, golf and time spent with family and friends.

Andrea Parker

VP/Communications/KISS and Thursday Coordinator

I've been a golfer since the age of 27, although living in the Northeast, it was hard to put in enough time to really get better. I have been a member of women's 9-hole leagues, and Wine and 9's off and on for years before I became a member here at Plantation. In my spare time I'm a professional singer, love to exercise, with swimming being one of my favorite activities. I also love to cook healthy meals and absolutely love to entertain. I have been with my husband for 17 years, and although, I do not have children, I have two Boston Terriers, and a stepson that round out my "family". I love getting to know other ladies and having fun on the golf course! My goal as the communications chair has been to modernize and update our communication platforms, social media, and website presence.

Sally Glavin

Treasurer

I have been a member of the Plantation Golf and Country Club since June 2022. My husband Jim and I are from the Chicago area where we still have our family home or as Jim refers to it, our over priced storage unit! We are Florida residents now and spend at least 6 months and 1 day in this beautiful area. We love it! I played my first 9 hole league round in January 2023 and I can honestly say that the women in the league were among the most welcoming and friendly that I've encountered. My golf game has actually improved too! By April of that year I became treasurer and that is where I still am today. I was an accountant for many years before staying home with our kids. We have 3 grown children who all live with their spouses in Chicago. I enjoy traveling, reading, tennis, and golf, but mostly I enjoy spending time with our family and friends and living this beautiful lifestyle that we are so blessed to be a part of!

Phyllis Brautigan

Secretary

My husband Dave and I are originally from West Virginia and officially traded snow for sunshine in July 2019 when we moved to Florida to buy a business. By 2021, we found our home in The Plantation and quickly realized we had found something even better, a true sense of community. I’ve been a golfer since my husband bought me a set of clubs on our Honeymoon. Between work and raising three kids, let’s just say my game didn’t always get the attention it deserved! That changed two years ago when I joined the 9-hole league—now my Tuesdays are reserved for golf, laughter, and a great group of ladies that I look forward to seeing every week. Dave and I officially retired in February 2026 (and we’re loving it!). With a little free time on my hands, I’ve stepped into the role of Secretary on the committee and am excited to be more involved. Our three grown children are scattered across the country, so we love any excuse to travel—especially when it means spending time with our two grandchildren. My goal for 2026? Improve my golf game (finally!) and play as many new courses as possible along the way. We truly love life at The Plantation—what started as a move has turned into a place filled with friends who feel like family.

Games/Recognition and Awards

I became a member of the Plantation Golf and CC and PL9GA league in 2022 and have loved every minute!! With my husband, Mark, I spend the summers in Wisconsin which allows me to continue to golf almost year-round. I have been golfing on a more regular basis since I retired 10 years ago. Being in an office environment as a Tax Manager for my entire career, I find it so enjoyable spending time outside connecting with nature. I love to run, but due to "aging knees", I have had to cut way back on my runs, but I find other ways to keep active. Joining the PL9GA has provided me with many benefits including, lasting friendships; expanded social circles; friendly golf competitions; and encouragement to improve my golf skills. I feel very fortunate to be a member of the PL9GA and thoroughly enjoy serving on the board with a very special group of ladies.

Recognition and Awards/50-50

I have been a member at Plantation Golf and CC since 2013. My husband Bob and I are high school sweethearts are coming up on our 50th wedding anniversary. I did not golf until I was in my late 50’s to early 60’s. I started out here at Plantation on the novice league as it was called back in the day. As a novice I played from the orange tees. I formally joined the Ladies 9 Hole League 4 or 5 years ago and continued playing from the orange tees. I can proudly state that this past season I play from the Ladies regulation red tees! (We won’t talk about my handicap, however). We have lived in Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and Florida. I am retired as a speech and language pathologist since 2013. The L9GA is a fun and diverse group of women. It is a pleasure to be a part of such a welcoming golf community!

Gail Guimond

Membership Co -Chair

I joined the PL9GA in 2022, shortly after settling into the community as a seasonal snowbird. Being a part of the league has allowed me to meet many amazing ladies and to develop special friendships, while sharing our love of golf. It has been a delight to serve on the board as Secretary and to work alongside this talented and energetic team. My husband Paul & I met in university and worked together for 25 years managing a business in the automotive industry. Retirement has allowed us to spend our summers in the beautiful cottage country of Ontario and escape to Florida to avoid our cold & snowy Canadian winters. The best of both worlds! When I’m not golfing, I enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, gardening, baking and reading.

Membership Co-Chair

I have been a member of the Ladies Nine since the fall of 2024. My husband, Bob and I spend six months in one day out of New York State where we have a home at the end of Long Island. I grew up on Long Island and attended the University of Rhode Island, the University of Madrid and received my Masters degree from Long Island University . I retired from my beloved career of teaching high school Spanish in the spring of 2024 and I miss it dearly, however, I embrace our fun filled life which we enjoy between New York and Florida. We love being at the Plantation and I have enjoyed two magnificent seasons, playing with the wonderful 9 Hole ladies. In addition to working on my golf game and enjoying our Tuesday events, I spend time practicing yoga, playing pickle ball, riding horses and when I’m in New York and I always love to entertain! I am so honored and excited to be joining the board as cochair of the membership committee in the upcoming season.

Pam Boyle

Events Co-Chair

My husband and I moved to beautiful Somerset at the Plantation in 2012. After many years of Brian trying to get me to golf, he bought me clubs for our first Christmas here. I immediately joined the PL9GA where I began learning the game among great supporters. I took a couple of years off when Covid hit but am so happy to “back at it”. I am very excited to be a part of this great leadership team who makes the league such a warm, welcoming and fun place to be meeting new friends and enjoying golf. Brian and I lived in Queens, NY for the first two years of our married life then in MA where we raised our daughter and son. When the winters became too much for Brian we moved to Florida where we lived full time for 10 years. We now spend summers back in MA in our “barndomium” in my son’s backyard so we can be close to our one and only grandson, Christopher. Our daughter lives in Estero with her husband so we get the best of both worlds. I am a true dog lover having had dogs since I was 18 months old. We currently have Tucker, our sweet Maltipoo and I enjoy playing and long walks with him. I like golf, reading, music, dancing, theatre, children (especially babies) and exploring new places. Spending time with family and friends is the best!
